I saw a Chevy S10 eXtreme truck a few minutes ago. No SR20 because I didn't think about it at the time, but realized after that it might be photo-worthy. It was a manual (did they make eXtreme's with auto's?), and it was red like this one (no stripes though), and overall pretty clean looking.

I've seen automatic Xtremes for sale. But rarely do I ever see an clean one. Most have been beaten to hell by careless teens.

That being said, I saw a super clean black extended bad Xtreme a couple days ago. Damn thing looked factory fresh.

Most of the ones I see are trashed, extended cabs and autos. Hard to find a std cab and stick.

Oh yeah, I guess it's Xtreme and not eXtreme like I put in the post, oh well...

But yeah, this one was pretty clean, the front bumper/body kit was a little chipped, but it wasn't cracked or anything like that.

There are a few in decent shape that I see running around.

The Xtreme body and appearance kit was widely available through GM, and many regular S10 owners made Xtreme clones. Other owners made clones out of salvage yard parts.

Stick and a standard cab? Damn. Rare combo right there. I've seen a few, but they were all Ext. Cab and autos.

I liked the S-10 SS in that body style more. Very rare truck.

Yeah, I guess maybe the owner realizes that it's a bit rare and treats it well, because it was in good shape.

I'm not sure how to be 100% positive, but I'd imagine this one is real. It looks very good, so someone either kept up with it well or did a very good job cloning it.

They were available as both stick or automatic, extended cab or regular, 4 or 6 cylinder and 2WD only. The sad thing is most of them were 4-cylinders.

My former boss when I worked for a junkyard had a couple of them- we used to get them pretty often after young dudes wrapped them around trees, and he rebuilt a couple of nicer ones.

Neat. There's an eXtreme in that same color that's always parked on the edge of campus. Has a nasty torn-up fabric/leatherette bed cover of some kind that RUINS the look, but I guess it's functional.

Factory installed body kit for RWD S10s. Good look for them.

The RPO code sticker in the glovebox is the only way to be sure. A legit Xtreme truck will have codes V4A and ZQ8. A legit Xtreme 2WD Blazer will have V4A and Z87.

V4A is the ground effects package, ZQ8 is the truck wheel and suspension package, while Z87 is the Blazer wheel and suspension package.

It needs to have both codes on the RPO sticker, or it's not a real Xtreme.

I had both an S10 SS and an S10 Xtreme. Loved them both. The 4.3L was one of the best power plants...So. Much. Torque. and the S10 did so much more than it was supposed to. I've towed plenty with both and had a little less than 2 tons of scrap in my SS. It rode on the bump stops and I needed to replace the brake rotors, but it handled it proudly.
